The Champions League puts the biggest of clubs under pressure year in, year out and campaigns in the competition often cause various clubs suffering in their domestic leagues. Will that be the case for Manchester City? By finishing third in last year’s Premier League, they find themselves in Group F of the Champions League. Thus far, Napoli seem to be the main obstacle standing in the way of Pep Guardiola’s progress with the club. Napoli are a side that the Citizens have not yet beaten. Could it be a case of third time lucky? Find out first hand by purchasing Manchester City tickets.

City fans shouldn’t be too worried about their group stage opponents though. Their side are getting off to a positive start in the Premier League and are displaying the qualities they possessed last year in order to qualify for the Champions League. New additions to the squad in Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo as well as a new goalkeeper in the form of Ederson Santana de Moraes show that Guardiola has been making concerted efforts to make City’s defence as strong as their attack. As their new players build relationships with Manchester City’s existing ones they’ll become an intimidating force in European competition.

Napoli have both beaten and drawn with City in previous Champions League campaigns, which may provide them with a false sense of security as they try to come out at the top of the Group F table. Worryingly, they’re no longer in possession of Edinson Cavani, the antagonist and goal scorer in their previous bouts with the Manchester XI. However, a lot has changed since 2011, Napoli now place their confidence in two strong centre-attacking midfielders, Dries Mertens and Marek Hamsik. The Italians will be looking to unleash an onslaught both domestically in Serie A and in Europe in the Champions League with City firmly in their sights.

Both teams have a lot to gain and not much to lose making their meetings on the 17th of October and the 1st of November highly anticipated and exciting. Click here to get your Champions League tickets with some amazing prices on offer around Europe and at the Etihad Stadium this season.
